Data and technology are things that can be implemented in sustainable ocean management efforts. The Global Dialogue on Sustainable Ocean Development, which was held on July 1-5, 2024 in Bali, provided an opportunity for Rekam Nusantara Chairperson Dr. Irfan Yulianto to become a panelist with 4 other figures, namely Angelique Pouponneau, Torsten Thiele, Jasdeep Randhawa, and Ben Milligan. Dr. Irfan Yulianto also discussed the “New Data Paradigm”. The New Data Paradigm is one way to create and manage data that can help respond to the biodiversity and climate crisis to read the needs of coastal communities and other island nations. Rekam Nusantara through the Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia unit is developing alternative approaches to data collection and analysis to fill gaps in knowledge and management strategies. The key points discussed at this plenary included:

1. The importance of data accuracy, ease of access, and integrated data.

2. Effective policy implementation based on science can improve coastal and ocean governance

3. Collaboration is the main key in scientific research

This activity can provide a new understanding of how data and technology can change the way we view and manage the ocean in the future. Well-integrated data and utilizing technology can be one step for the advancement of sustainable ocean management.
