IKAN is an Android-based, open-access application for data collection, which can be used by communities such as fishers, fish collectors, students, and public. IKAN aims to engage stakeholders in collecting fisheries data and information in Indonesia by collecting, storing, and processing fisheries data that is adaptable to the needs and scientific protocols.
By signing up to IKAN, one can get information from the collected data, understand the condition of fish resources in their respective area, and take part in data-processing training to gain insight and knowledge on fisheries science and fisheries management. As accountability, the analysis results belong to the data owner thus the data collected and shared with the public can contribute to develop better fisheries management in Indonesia.
