Crime in the marine and fisheries sector needs to be dealt with firmly. Various loopholes can be found and utilized unwisely. Indonesia is strongly committed to preventing, handling, and eradicating crimes in the form of Illegal, Unreported, Unregulated Fishing (IUU Fishing). Efforts to prevent, handle, and eradicate IUU Fishing continue and become an integral part of sustainable fisheries management in Indonesia.
To support this, Fisheries Resource Center Indonesia together with the Directorate General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Monitoring collaborated in developing the National Action Plan on Illegal, Unreported, Unregulated Fishing (NPOA IUU Fishing). NPOA IUU Fishing is a national policy created to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing practices. By implementing this policy, we aim to sustainably protect our fisheries resources from criminal activities. The activity was held on November 21-22 in Bogor, attended by various experts and relevant directorates.
