Indonesia is committed to the 30x45 expansion of marine protected areas. In line with this, one of the important things in marine protected areas is the effectiveness of species-based conservation areas, rescue, and management of priority and target species. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries together with the WWF Indonesia Foundation held a Training on Identification of Critical Habitat for Stingray Sharks and Endangered Species. Through this training, FRCI sent a delegation Wahyu Putri Fajar Rahmalinda to learn the identification of critical habitat for ETP (Endangered, Threatened, and Protected) species.

The training was held on November 19 - November 21, 2024 in Jakarta. Participants came from various institutions including government, researchers, academics, and non-governmental organizations. The 3-day training covered several major topics including:

1. Critical Habitat Identification Guidance, Species-based Conservation Area Establishment, Rapid Estimation Guidance

2. ISRA (Important Shark and Ray Area) in Indonesia

3. IMMA (Important Marine Mammals Area) in Indonesia

4. Species Selection (Conservation Needs, Biological and Ecological Characteristics, and Guidelines for Selection)

5. Vision of Indonesia's Marine Protected Areas 2045

6. Ecological Principles for designing Conservation Areas with different approaches

7. Defining area boundaries and assessing achievements

Participants were also trained to implement the training materials through discussions and a series of exercise tasks from the first meeting. Thus, this training can increase the capacity of participants to contribute to the 30x45 marine protected area target.
