Wedgefish and Giant Guitarfish are demersal fish species that are a priority for fisheries management in Central Java Province, especially Java’s North Coast (Pantura). One of the points that became the basis for determining effective management actions is information on the level of awareness and understanding of the community of fishery actors who use wedgefish and giant guitarfish. This is important to know because community or main actors in fishing activities for these two types of fish are important elements involved in the management program. To collect related information, a survey was conducted on fishery actors from Tegal, Pati, and Rembang, both in the villages where the fishermen live and at the fish landing ports, namely the Tegalsari Coastal Fishery Port (PPP), Tasikagung PPP, and Bajomulyo PPP. The survey was conducted for five days, 15-20 August 2021, involving 11 local facilitators who were recruited directly. The target respondents include ship owners, captains/fishermen, ship managers, and baskets/fish sellers. The main aspect that became the topic of the survey was the respondent's perception of the fishery status, sustainability and management of wedgefish and giant guitarfish. The hope is that fishery actors can actively participate in the sustainable use of wedgefish and giant guitarfish fisheries so that fish resources are maintained.
