Currently, Indonesia's fish resources are overfished. This condition can cause a decrease in the production value of the catch, which is indicated by low fish quality and a decrease in the stock of fish resources in the waters. Therefore, studies related to fish stocks are needed to provide information for conservation and management of fish resources in the future. This condition attracted Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University to hold an in-house training on sustainable fisheries. This training took place for two days on September 9-10, 2024 at the Faculty of Agriculture and TMPT Laboratory of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University and was attended by 30 lecturers.

FRCI represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budy Wiryawan, Dr. Irfan Yulianto, Intan Destianis Hartati, and Ahmad Syauqi Jafani shared knowledge on how to conduct stock assessment of fish resources in countries with limited data. The way that can overcome this is by utilizing the length-based spawning potential ratio or known as (LB-SPR). SPR will show the lifetime reproductive potential of fish during natural conditions compared to when they are caught. The training material includes several things including the SPR Approach to fisheries management and an explanation related to the Von Bertalanffy Model. Not only the delivery of material, the trainees also conducted SPR and Von Bertalanffy simulations, as well as discussions and preparation of management recommendations.
