Fish resources are an important component of the marine ecosystem, not only playing an important role in the stability of the ecosystem. They also play an important role in national food needs and the economic welfare of fishermen and coastal communities. The great benefit of the existence of fish resources, in fact, is accompanied by unsustainable fishing, thus disrupting the availability of fish stocks in marine waters. Conservation efforts are needed to overcome this, but these efforts do not only focus on certain species. Instead, an ecosystem-based approach to fish resource management is needed. This approach focuses on the importance of all components in an ecosystem that influence interactions between species and the physical environment. This solution certainly cannot be implemented independently, but requires collaboration from various parties.

The Capture Fisheries Consortium Partnership Forum (FK2PT) and the NTB Province Sustainable Fisheries Management Scientific Forum (FIP2B NTB) held the 10th National Capture Fisheries Seminar and the 2024 National Seminar on Fisheries and Marine Management. This activity was held on September 11, 2024 at the Golden Palace Hotel, Mataram City, NTB Province by presenting several keynote speakers including Ir. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, M.M., Muslim, S.T., M.Si., Prof. Neil Loneragan, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Budy Wiryawan, M.Sc. The seminar was attended by academics, researchers, local and central government, and involved the public with an interest in fisheries and marine management. Not only discussion sessions, the seminar also had presentation sessions delivered by the participants with sub-themes:
