The Gili Ayer, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan Aquatic Tourism Parks (TWP Gili Matra), West Nusa Tenggara Province, were appointed as pilot locations for the implementation of the preparation of the Ocean Accounts. The Ocean Accounts is a collective indicator that reflects the status of a country's marine natural resource assets, the economic potential that can be obtained from the utilization of resource assets, along with the potential impacts arising from the activities of utilizing these resource assets. The Ocean Accounts is a global initiative that has been implemented in many countries, and Indonesia is currently in the process of being drafted under the coordination of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). On September 13-18, 2021, the REKAM Nusantara Foundation, as a KKP partner in the preparation of the Ocean Accounts, conducted a survey and study of coastal ecosystems, capture fisheries, and socio-economics in TWP Gili Matra. The survey team was divided into three task forces, namely collecting data and information on (1) the extent and condition of the ecosystem, (2) economic flows (economic activities that utilize marine resource assets), and (3) flows to the environment (potential environmental impacts from marine resources). Data collection on marine resource assets is carried out on mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems, as well as water quality and fish catches, while data collection on socio-economic aspects includes capture fisheries and tourism activities. The survey will continue, namely for water quality and monitoring of fish landings, in October 2021
