In 2016, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) issued a fishery management plan (RPP) for flying fish in the Indonesian fisheries management area (WPPNRI). In accordance with the mandate of the RPP, evaluation and review of the RPP is carried out every five years using indicators of fisheries management through an ecosystem approach, or often called EAFM (Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management). Approaching the end of the implementation period, KKP through the Directorate of Fish Resources Management (PSDI), conducted a review of the Flying Fish RPP manuscript with the Rekam Nusantara Foundation and received funding support from the Global Environment Facility-6 grant through the Coastal Fisheries Initiative (GEF 6-CFI) program. The study and review of the Flying Fish RPP script was held in a span of two months, from 7 October – 6 December 2021, involving various elements of the government and the community. Review activities include updating data and information, evaluating and exploring issues and problems, determining priority issues, and formulating goals and targets for the next five years. The results of the review are then consulted with the local government and related universities to obtain feedback and input. Local government elements related to flying fish resources include the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) of South Sulawesi Province, DKP of West Sulawesi Province, DKP of Central Sulawesi Province, DKP of Southeast Sulawesi Province, DKP of West Papua Province, DKP of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Nusantara Ternate Fishery Port, Tual Fishery Port, Saumlaki Fishery Port, as well as the Technical Implementation Unit of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Fishery Product Safety (UPT BKIPM). University representatives involved were from IPB University, Hasanuddin University, Pattimura University, Papua University, and Cenderawasih University
