Indonesia's fisheries resources are currently in an alarming condition. Most of Indonesia's waters have experienced overexploitation of fisheries resources. If this condition is left unchecked, it can have a serious impact on various aspects such as ecology, economy, and natural balance. Various efforts can be made to overcome this such as by taking a scientific approach to fisheries resource management.
The importance of accurate data is the main thing that needs to be pursued so that decisions in fisheries management can be effective and right on target. In this case, technical guidance related to fisheries data management is an important step to provide an in-depth understanding of both the process of collecting, exploring, and analyzing data in fish stock assessment. With this in mind, the Directorate of Fish Resources Management (Dit. PSDI) in collaboration with Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) and the Rekam Nusantara Foundation - Fisheries Resources Center of Indonesia (RNF-FRCI) held technical guidance activities which were held on June 5-7 at the Rekam Nusantara Foundation Office.
The 3-day activity was attended by 13 participants from various work teams. The technical guidance presented speakers including Dr. Sugeng Hari Wisudo, Dr. Budy Wiryawan, Dr. Irfan Yulianto, and M Natsir, Ph.D. This training focused on 4 modules including Data management in Fisheries Management, Exploration of logbook data, Presentation of training report session 1, Introduction to CPUE data analysis with GLM. This technical guidance is expected to provide knowledge and understanding in handling data analysis and improving the quality and information of fishing logbook data to support fisheries management in the future.
