The National Workshop on the Preparation of Ocean Accounts (SDL) is the first national-scale activity held specifically to discuss the concept of the Ocean Accounts and its constituent components, including the challenges and opportunities in its preparation in Indonesia. This workshop is a means to gather input on priority location options, resource requirements, institutional models, and other relevant aspects in the implementation of the preparation of the Ocean Accounts in Indonesia. The National Workshop for Ocean Accounts was held on September 23, 2021, in collaboration between the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), the Ministry of Finance, the Central Statistics Agency, the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), and the REKAM Nusantara Foundation, as well as support from The Global Ocean Account Partnership (GOAP). A total of 12 speakers were present, either in person at the IPB International Convention Center or virtually, and delivered material which was attended by more than 400 participants from various agencies online via Zoom and Youtube channels. In addition to coming from agencies involved in organizing the workshop, the invited speakers also came from other relevant agencies, namely the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), the National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), and IPB University. The event consisted of four parts, namely Opening, Presentation by Speakers, Focused Group Discussion, and Closing. In the focused group discussion session, participants were divided into three groups through a breakout room mechanism, each of which discussed aspects of the preparation of the Ocean Accounts, namely 1) regulatory aspects; 2) operational aspects; and 3) aspects of priorities, challenges and opportunities for the preparation of the Ocean Accounts in Indonesia. The summary of the material from the speakers and the results of the focused group discussion will then be used as input in the formulation of a roadmap for the implementation of the preparation of the Ocean Accounts in Indonesia.
