The activity of collecting fisheries data by involving students is one of the agenda of the FRCI Rekam Nusantara in Java’s North Coast, which aims to increase the capacity of human resources through an internship program. Data collection on grouper and snapper catches were carried out by Syahrul Alawi, a student from the Department of Fisheries Resources Management (PSP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Brawijaya University. The location of the data collection is in Lamongan Regency, namely at the Port of Pengkolan, Kandang Semangkon Village and at the Brondong Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN). Grouper and snapper catches were recorded from 42 fleets with a capacity of 20-30 GT, with fishing gear including traps, bottom gill nets, hand lines, and longlines. The types of fish that are the main targets for local fishermen are grouper Plectropomus maculatus and Plectropomus leopardus, as well as snapper Lutjanus malabaricus and Pinjalo pinjalo, with catch locations in the waters of southern South Kalimantan, which are part of WPPNRI 712. During the data collection period (10-25 July 2021) ), as many as 597 fish from 12 boat trips were successfully recorded. There were eight types of grouper and six types of snapper that were recorded during the data collection activity. Grouper species Epinephelus areolatus and snapper Lutjanus malabaricus were found in dominant numbers, namely 143 and 262 individuals, respectively.
