Ocean Accounts are crucial for marine resources management. Thus, the Ocean Accounts Compiling Team was formed based on the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia No. 51 of 2022. Within it, the Thematic Geospatial Information (TGI) Working Group for Ocean Accounts—led by the Head of the Center for Spatial Mapping and Atlas of the Geospatial Information Agency—existed with the task of archiving spatial data throughout the updating of Ocean Accounts data using multi-stakeholder collaboration.

As an initial step in compiling the Indonesian Ocean Accounts, the TGI Working Group had come together for its preliminary meeting on Thursday, 17 November 2022 at the Bigland Hotel Sentul, Bogor and through Zoom Meeting. This meeting was attended by representatives from Dit. KKHL, BIG, KLHK, BRIN, and Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia, during which, an FGD was held to discuss the duties and functions of TGI Working Group members, the mechanism of data exchange between institutions, and the work agenda for November and December 2022 for the preparation of Account 1.
