Marine protected areas play an important role in life for ecological, economic and social aspects. In this case, it is important to pay attention to the proper management of marine protected areas. Proper and effective management of conservation areas will determine the sustainability of the ecosystems and biodiversity within them. This requires expertise in conservation area planning and management. Therefore, it is important for stakeholders involved in MPA management to undergo comprehensive training and rigorous competency assessment through the MPA manager certification scheme. The goal is that conservation area management can be carried out in an organized, appropriate, and effective manner.

On May 13-18, 2024 the Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) together with the Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Provinsi Jawa Tengah held a Basic Training and Competency Test for the Certification Scheme for the Implementation of Marine Protected Area Management Planning. This activity was carried out by the Central Java Province BPSDMD Training Center which was attended by 25 participants. There were 6 training modules delivered in the activity including:

1. Basic Principles of MPA Management

2. Important Processes and Interactions in Marine Ecosystems

3. Education Program for MPA Management

4. Law Enforcement Program for MPA Management

5. Sustainable Fisheries Program for MPA Management

6.  Tourism Program for MPA Management
