Crimes in both criminal and civil forms can occur in various sectors, one of which is the marine and fisheries sector. In strengthening evidence of criminal cases, usually utilizing forensic digital evidence as supporting data to strengthen a case being handled. Digital forensics is a series of methodologies consisting of various techniques and procedures for searching and collecting digital device-based evidence that serves as valid evidence in court.
In May 2024, the Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) together with the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision (PSDKP) and the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Bareskrim Polri) held a training with the theme "Handling Electronic Evidence and Utilization of Digital Forensics in Combating Marine and Fisheries Crimes". The training activities that took place at the PSDKP Headquarters aimed to increase the capacity of civil servant investigators in investigating criminal acts in the marine and fisheries sector and handling evidence through the use of the latest computer technology.
The activity lasted for four days with 5 main topics, namely:
1. Fishing vessel monitoring system
2. Electronic evidence and analysis
3. Digital, Mobile and Computer Forensics
4. Mobile forensic analysis using Cellebrite
5. Crime scene investigation
