The north coast of Java is one of the landing centers for demersal fish in Indonesia. However, several types of fish that are conservation priorities are still being exploited massively, namely the wedgefish and giant guitarfish. Both of these rays have been listed as "Critically Endangered" by the IUCN, which means that the global population of these rays has decreased significantly and there is potential for habitat destruction. In 2019, CITES or the international convention on endangered species included these two types of rays in appendix II, meaning that international trade in these rays needs to be regulated. Collaborative research was carried out with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, one of which was a survey of the socio-economic dependence of the community on the commodities of the two rays. This activity was carried out in 3 ports of Pantura Central Java, namely PPP Tegalsari, PPP Bajomulyo, and PPP Tasik Agung. This research involved 12 students and was carried out from September to October 2020. The results of this research are hoped to be used as input and the basis for consideration in the implementation of shark and ray management, especially in Java’s north coast.
