To map out the data and information on illegal fishing, destructive fishing, illegal trade of marine species, and money laundering crimes, the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (MFRS) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) collaborated with Rekam Nusantara Foundation unit Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) to hold a focus group discussion entitled "Data and Information of Illegal Fishing, Destructive Fishing, Illegal Trade of Protected Marine Species, and Money Laundering Crime." The event was held at Aston Hotel and Resort in Bogor, West Java on Monday and Tuesday, March 20-21, 2023.

On the first day, Session 1 discussed the portrait of illegal fishing, destructive fishing, and illegal trade of marine species with speakers Asep Supriyadi, S.St.Pi., M.Si representing the Director of Fishery Resource Management Surveillance, MFRS-MMAF; Iim Naimah, S.Pi., Mec representing the Director of Marine Resource Management Surveillance, MFRS-MMAF; Muh. Firdaus Agung Kunto Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc, Ph.D, the Director of Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, MSP-MMAF; and Ridzki Rinanto Sigit, the Director of Mongabay Environmental Media.

Session 2 discussed the enforcement of laws related to illegal fishing, destructive fishing, and illegal trade of marine species with speakers Savetri Lihanara representing the Deputy of Analysis and Inspection, INTRAC; Teuku Elvitrasyah, S.H., M.M, the Director of Violation Handling, MFRS-MMAF; Kompol Tinton Yudha Riambodo, SH., SIK., MH representing the Director of Special Crimes, Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian Police Force; and AKBP Dwi Aryani Widiastuti SE representing the Director of Special Economic Crimes, Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian Police Force.

On the second day, Session 3 discussed the techniques for revealing illegal fishing, destructive fishing, and illegal trade of marine species with speakers Jumadi, A.Pi., S.Pi., M.Si. representing the Head of Fish Quarantine Center, BKIPM-MMAF; Dr. R. Taufiq Purna Nugraha from the National Research and Innovation Agency; and Dwi Nugroho from the Rekam Nusantara Foundation.

Session 4 discussed the follow-up actions related to illegal fishing activities with speakers Dr (c) Asep Kurniawan Cakraputra, SH representing the Head of Asset Recovery Center, Indonesian Attorney General's Office; Mochammad Rachdian Prayoga, S.St.Pi., MESM representing the Director of Fishing Vessels and Fishing Gear, Directorate General of Capture Fisheries, MMAF; Setyawati, S.Sos., M.Ak., CFrA. representing the Head of the Finance Bureau, MMAF; and Benediktus Margiadi representing the Director General of State Assets, Ministry of Finance.

Through this event, it is hoped that there will be synergy among policymakers as well as the exchange of data and information among institutions to combat illegal fishing, destructive fishing, illegal use of protected marine species, and money laundering crimes in the marine and fisheries sector.
