As an effort to conserve the blue carbon ecosystems, Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia (FRCI) held an Audience on the "Strengthening Coastal Community Resilience Through Blue Carbon Ecosystem Management" Program, which was held on Tuesday, 14 February 2023 at Dapoer Sasak, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (WNT). This discussion was attended by 14 participants from the WNT Province Marine and Fisheries Service (MFS), the FRCI Unit of Rekam Nusantara Foundation, WCS Indonesia, and Bentang Laut Sunda Kecil Foundation.

This event aimed to introduce the Rekam Nusantara Foundation as well as convey blue carbon ecosystem management plans to the WNT-MFS and other partners in the field. There were five main activities that will be carried out over a period of 30 months, namely ecosystem extent analysis; restoration, protection and conservation; capacity building of coastal communities; strengthening marine governance; and education and awareness programs to support the management of blue carbon ecosystems.

During the discussion, the Head of WNT-MFS Mr. Muslim, ST., M.Si expressed his support as well as the mandate that this program should be carried out synergistically and inclusively. This program is also expected to increase the WNT province’s contribution in the efforts to conserve blue carbon ecosystems as well as benefit the local communities.
